GRL Mag Internship
100% youth-run online platform ★ professional internship ★ ages 14–22
GRL Mag is our completely youth-run online magazine full of articles, interviews, photo and essay series, reviews, etc., and operating as an internship for exceptional teens and young adults around the world.
Applications open 11/15 and close 12/15, with the winter/spring cohort running from 1/17 to 5/6…then we do it all over again in FALL 2022!
THE MISSION
GRL Mag is a safe space for young women and gender-expansive youth to share what they think about art, love, politics, bodies, botany, grammar, mental health… all the things, really. Why won’t my mom stop talking about her diet? Why does my girlfriend insist that I don’t love her because I don’t fold her laundry right? Why do I still feel so much more deeply connected to Adventure Time than anyone else I know? We want to hear you.
We are phenomenal thinkers, lovers, partners, mothers, sisters, painters, writers, screamers, contributors, and we don’t want to wait for someone else to “give us” a platform.
Launched in early 2017, GRL Mag has since had dozens of contributors from all over the world sharing their work. Our goal is to give young women (~14+ years old) a platform to speak their voice and have it be heard.

“GR has taught me so much…
…from editing skills to client work to how to get a job. The biggest lesson I learned, though, is how big of an impact a photo can make. A single photo essay can tell the stories of thousands and fight for racial justice, and a photo used for street art can start a feminist revolution… Honestly, I’m not sure what I see myself doing after college and high school. No matter what I’m doing, though, I know I will take everything I learned from GR with me, which is so much.”

How many other people will I be working with?
