Library Project
6 weeks ★ 4th–10th graders ★ turning the library into a place of music
free songwriting + music lessons at the eastside library
This empowering collaboration offers Girls Rock SB + Amplify the opportunity to expand our reach in the community, and our beloved Santa Barbara Public Library the chance to further diversify the programming they offer! ALL LEVELS WELCOME!
2 free spring series of 6 classes each
Separated by age group, tweens and teens are invited to join us for a series of songwriting classes this spring! Over the course of this 6-week series, youth will learn to write and perform their own songs about issues that matter to them—from getting more opportunities to speak up in class to closing the gender pay gap, we’re…
songwriting for social change!!
beginning april 7…
We’re meeting every Thursday at the Eastside Library with musician, teacher, and role model Maria Cincotta to write and practice our own rad songs, complete with provided instruments (namely acoustic guitars and ukuleles)!! Participants are welcome to bring their own favorite instrument if desired.
4th–6th graders meet @ 3:30 PM; 7th–10th graders meet @ 4:30 PM.
IMPORTANT: Signing up for this program is a 6-week commitment that culminates with a big final showcase MAY 12 @ 5:30 PM. There’s a very good chance press will be there to capture the big celebration (and grab young rock stars’ autographs 😎), but you must attend all 6 sessions to be part of this huge finish!
“my favorite part is watching the songwriting process and learning all the songs we write…
They get stuck in my head all year—so many bops and bangers. It’s super inspiring to see all the talent and ideas in our community.”
We have super limited spots available in each series (i.e., in each age group), so sign up like NOW!! Then another series of classes is planned for this fall 🍂
