INTERNSHIP RECAP

Interns adapted their creative instincts to come out through extensive photography and filmmaking skills. They learned photo editing tools like Adobe Photoshop and dabbled in several different kinds of projects, from vulnerable self-portraiture to captivating music videos for our recording artists’ hit singles. Every young artist had her pieces published online (both on partner platforms and GRSB social media) and started building her professional portfolio. These talented visionaries are changing what it means to be a woman in the world of photography and filmmaking—from either side of the camera.

Neorah Davis is a 15-year-old photographer. She resides in Los Angeles, California. Neorah gravitates most towards portraiture, but enjoys experimenting with all genres of photography. Through her work, she strives to tell stories. Hers, others', the world's. She tells stories rooted in reality through a surreal lens. We take so much for granted in this world and rarely stop to question it; to question names and faces, the day-to-day monotony that we take for granted. As a species we fail to realize that this was all created by us, and just like that it can be destroyed and rebuilt by us. Neorah hopes to share work that inspires social change. Visuals that dismantles our perception of truth, of right and wrong, so that we can fix it. Neorah has always had a lot to say, but a quiet voice. So at the age of 12, when she was feeling particularly unheard, she turned to photography. For a while it was just a hobby, a way to pass the time once in a while, but it has become so much more than that. Neorah's journey as an artist is just beginning- right now she is just a girl with an Instagram page (@neorahrayphotography), a camera, and a dream.

Caroline Dinger is a 14 year old landscape and travel photographer from north Texas. Eventually she would like to travel the world capturing her journey. She got into photography at a young age learning it from her parents. Her and her family traveled a lot as a child and her mother was always taking pictures to make sure Caroline and her brother had memories of their travels as  adults. Caroline's father was always more into the technical side of photography and taught her how to use their digital camera soon after she expressed interest in it. Ever since he was young, Caroline's brother wanted to be a musician. Caroline, however, never knew exactly what she wanted to do but she knew that she wanted to do something creative as well. Her brother always encouraged her and her art. She claims that she wouldn't be where she is at today is it weren't for her brother's support. In the future, Caroline hopes to start work with models and explore the world of portraiture as well as travel photography more in depth!

Grace Bourassa is a 16 year old photographer based in Los Angeles. She loves to photograph her friends and the world around her. In the future Grace would like to get into travel photography or even photographing dancers. Two of her biggest passions are dance and travel so to be able to capture them and show the world would be a dream come true. She got into photography because her mom has been a photographer her whole life. Growing up she watched her mom take pictures of her and everywhere they went. Grace wants to show everyone the truth. Being a girl herself, and growing up with expectations from society, she feels passionate about women's rights. Through photography she wants to tell the world what's hidden below and go beyond beauty standards.

“Liz, our photography mentor, was amazing. I learned so much from her, but I also feel like she was my best friend because she was always so fun and supportive.”
