AM LEAD + CLASS COORDINATOR

AM Lead/Class Coordinator ensures all aspects of programming occur seamlessly in the first half of the day by assisting, supporting, supervising, and coordinating the morning/early afternoon staff team including counselors, instructors, transportation, and camper care team. The AM lead is directly supervised by the program director and the executive director.


SCHEDULE

This is a temporary salaried position with hours generally worked from 7:30am-3:30pm with an adjusted schedule on arrival, departure and showcase days. The AM lead works 6 days/week and has one 24-hour period per week free from camp responsibilities, while still upholding expectations. The AM Lead is in the rotation for on-call overnight shifts to tend to any camp needs that may occur.

  • Oversee all aspects of running camp for the first half of each day

  • Assist in leading parts of training and orientation

  • Supervise and support a team of 13 or more staff so they are prepared to successfully complete tasks, and follow up with staff if performance improvements are needed

  • Provide support for campers and connect with staff team for support

  • Utilize trauma informed and social emotional learning practices in all camper communicating

  • Plan and lead morning assemblies including group bonding/team building games and challenges, making announcements, communicating the daily schedule, and making sure camp rules are followed

  • Coordinate moving gear, band formation, and private lessons

  • Lead transitions and ensure camper count off is accurate

  • Lead twice weekly staff meetings and one on ones as needed, plus daily debrief with PM lead, and at least 3 lead team meetings per week

  • Follow up with absent day campers

  • Shifting schedules and possibly filling in for staff who are unable to work

  • Treasure hunt specialist


REQUIREMENTS

  • 2+ years experience with young adult leadership, mentorship, communication, goal setting, and general ability to successfully manage staff

  • 2+ years teaching, mentoring, and/or collaborating experience with youth grades 3-12

  • Ability to lead group bonding activities such as ice breakers, games, and challenges

  • Understanding of and connection to our mission so that it is at the forefront of mind

  • Intermediate understanding of how to play and instruct in a variety of instruments, operate a small pa system, set up for band practice, and collaborate with band members

  • Strong public speaking, leadership, delegation, supervision and communication skills a must

  • Ability to adhere to a schedule


PAY + BENEFITS

  • The pay range is $5,400–7,200, depending on experience, for 9 weeks (10 days prior to session 1 for onsite move-in, team training) of full-time summer employment

  • Room and board is 100% covered

  • Travel cost to and from campus is not included and is the responsibility of each staff member
