AMPLIFY PROGRESSIVE PROGRAMMING

campers grow and evolve every year ☆ camp should, too

ELECTRIC YOUTH | 3rd–6th grade

ELECTRIC YOUTH are Amplify’s youngest family members. For many, it’s their first time at sleep away camp, which is why they have their very own week of camp all to themselves at the end of summer.

  • Many group activities to promote positive sense of community, but also shorter activity blocks with more breaks for play, snacks, downtime

  • Super fun beach day, as well as field day day with “free choice” schedule

  • Exposed to all creative tracks before picking their focus (helps foster new interests)

  • Beginning to develop sense of personal independence, resilience, basic skill building

  • Staff keep track of their schedules and lead them to each daily activity

  • Families invited to tour campus and join us for lunch on dropoff day, then attend the final showcase on pickup day!

LIGHTS | 6th–8th grade

LIGHTS are our loveable middle children who’ve earned the chance to attend longer 2-week sessions of camp, sticking with their one chosen creative track from the start.

  • Make lots of their own decisions, e.g., choosing some of their own electives, allowing them to pursue interests on a deeper level

  • Special night swim party just for their age group so they can get super bonded 🤗 Other special stuff includes beach trips and lots of chances to hang with their pals

  • Staff particularly attentive to their changing social dynamics as they transition into teenhood

  • 6th graders are special—if they attend our last one-week session, which is exclusively for youngest campers, then they’re ELECTRIC YOUTH; if they attend any other session, they’re LIGHTS. They decide where they’re at in their development 🤘

LEGENDS | 9th–10th grade

LEGENDS are well on their way to being leaders in this summer experience that helps campers bridge the gap from adolescence to adulthood 😱

  • In addition to tracks, choose all their own daily electives, allowing them to both pursue existing interests on a deeper level and explore lots of new areas

  • Mature enough to keep track of their daily schedules, as well as enjoy a later bedtime

  • Leadership opportunities include the chance to plan and lead awesome camp-wide events, like pool parties!

  • Community-based environment promotes healthy, low-pressure growth experience to become empathetic adults

  • Special 2-day, 1-night bonding trip where they camp out at Carpinteria State Beach!

LITs (leaders in training) | 11th–12th grade

LITs are our most senior campers whose days are full of advanced skill and leadership development (as well as fun, duh).

  • In addition to tracks, intentional leadership electives like public speaking

  • Opportunities to design/lead electives for and mentor younger campers

  • Brag-worthy senior privileges (like a wayyy later bedtime and additional off-campus trips!)

  • A close-knit and endlessly supportive group of lifelong friends, as well as at least 1 or 2 very welcome newcomers each season

  • Professional-level capstone projects

  • 20 community service hours per week to complement the camper experience
